Winter is approaching

Updated: Oct 24, 2022

With winter comes our first frost, the dreaded end of our growing season, and cooler temperatures that us Texans aren't suited for. To better be prepared for this bring tender potted plants indoors when the forecast shows temperatures in the 30's. Now is the time to replace your summer annuals with winter annuals, one of our favorite times! Some of our favorites are Pansies and Ornamental Cabbage. Some other good plants include Viola, Aster (perennial), ornamental peppers, and ornamental kale all look great and can easily be added to your landscape to give it cover. Now with our lower temperatures, it's a great time to plant trees/shrubs/grass. They won't be stressed by the summer sun or heat and will most likely receive more water than our drought-filled summer.
